What is it about?
Starting Wintersemester 2026/2027
Explore the fascinating world of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology – a key technology for the future. Future-oriented technologies such as e-mobility, renewable energies, robotics, autonomous driving, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things all rely on know-how from electrical engineering and information technology.
With the Electrical Engineering specialization in the bachelor’s degree program in Applied Engineering Sciences, you’ll lay the foundations for a successful career with all kinds of opportunities. You’ll obtain the very skills that are in demand in modern technical professions – in a way that is hands-on, thorough, and supported by state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and digital tools.
In the first phase of the degree program, you’ll obtain important foundational skills in mathematics, computer science, internet technologies, electrical engineering, and electronics. In the second phase, you’ll be able to choose your own particular specialization:
- Information technology and AI
- E-mobility
- Renewable electrical energy systems
You’ll work with modern tools for circuit design, simulation, software development, and with professional measurement systems to understand and design electronic systems for hardware and software.
Start your future today – with a degree that connects innovation, technology, and hands-on learning.
What can I do with it?
The tasks and activities performed by electrical engineers are extremely varied, exciting, and future-focused:
- Developing software and hardware – e.g. for the automotive sector and medical engineering
- Managing projects – e.g. for the introduction of smart grids, Internet of Things technologies, and the development of innovative charging infrastructure solutions for e-mobility
- Driving innovations – electrical engineering provides the impetus for innovations in the most important future markets
This means that you can expect future job prospects in all kinds of industries: the electronics industry; companies in automotive, IT, and communications technology; medical engineering; the energy sector; automation technology; and aerospace.
Selecting a specialization for your studies marks the first step toward defining your career path.
With the flexible Time4ing option, you can spread the courses from the first three semesters over five semesters. This means you’ll have fewer subjects and examinations per semester during this phase. This gives you more time to focus on important foundational courses such as mathematics, physics, and Computer Science. You’ll also benefit from an extended BAfög funding period.
