What is it about?

Starting Wintersemester 2026/2027

The master's degree program in Biomedical Engineering is designed for graduates of engineering degree programs who are interested in working in research-oriented areas of biomedical engineering or who would like to pursue a further academic qualification. It extends your knowledge of modern biomedical technologies and prepares you for advanced engineering, clinical and research-oriented professions. You will acquire in-depth knowledge in the development and optimization of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as well as in interdisciplinary collaboration with medical professionals and researchers.  Application-oriented projects and course specializations will give you the optimal preparation for a career in biomedical technology. Small class sizes and our application-oriented approach create the ideal learning experience for you.

The master’s degree program in Biomedical Engineering at Hochschule RheinMain University of Applied Sciences and Arts offers courses in a wide range of sub-specialties, like radiation application in diagnosis and therapy, organ replacement technology, biomechanics or radiation detectors. It will therefore at the same time allow to acquire in-depth knowledge on relevant topics, but also broaden your scope in terms of clinical technologies and applications in the medical technology field.

What do I need?

You need a bachelor’s degree in the same or comparable engineering/technology field and language proficiency (English B2+).

What can I do with it?

A Master’s degree in Biomedical Technology gives you a wide variety of career opportunities. You can enter the medical technology industry and develop innovative products and processes. Alternatively, you can take responsibility in regulatory and quality assurance or project management in the industry or in public authorities. With further specialized training you could also become a medical physics expert in a clinic. Finally, with the master’s degree, you can continue your scientific career by entering a PhD program in medical technology.
