Step 3: Provide assistance
- Secure the accident scene if necessary
- Get a first-aid kit and, if necessary, a defibrillator (for information on their locations, see the posted emergency plan or the building’s evacuation and emergency route maps)
- Tend to the injured or ill person(s)
- If necessary, take the injured or ill person(s) to the first-aid facilities (see the building’s emergency plan posted on the bulletin board for information on their locations)
Step 4: Consult an on-call physician if necessary
- See the building’s posted emergency plan for a list of the nearest on-call physicians
Step 5: Document accidents
- For minor accidents (not requiring medical treatment)
- Fill out the incident report form Send the form to Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental Protection via internal mail (report forms and envelopes are available in the first-aid kits)
- For accidents requiring medical treatment and resulting in more than 3 days of incapacity for work, or whenever an ambulance is used to transport the injured person to a hospital emergency room
- File an accident report (see https://qm-portal.hs-rm.de, search term: “accident report”)

- Activate the manual fire alarm
- Call the fire department: 112
Step 3: Get people to safety
- Take anyone in danger with you
- Close the doors
- Never use an elevator!
- Go to the assembly point
Step 4: Attempt to extinguish the fire
- Take precautions to protect yourself!

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) supports HSRM members of staff who are experiencing psychological distress, overwhelm, or stress—regardless of whether you’re facing a personal, professional, or family crisis.
For Students
Mental Health Support is part of the Student Advisory Service and is available to students at Hochschule RheinMain – University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Wiesbaden and Rüsselsheim.

RheinMain University of Applied Sciences (HSRM) has a trained crisis management team and a plan for handling various crisis situations.
Depending on the situation, emergency response teams assess the situation and make quick and competent decisions. The Hochschule RheinMain – University of Applied Sciences and Arts crisis management team is involved; you can recognize members of the crisis management team by their light blue vests labeled “Krisenstab.”
The general guidelines listed below are intended to provide general guidance.
In the event of a localized threat: Evacuate the building/campus
- Remain calm
- If it is safe to do so: Call 110 / 112, then dial -3030; trigger the fire alarm if necessary
- Leave the building
- Take anyone at risk with you
- Close the doors
- Do not use elevators
- Proceed to assembly points
- Report anyone still in the building to emergency responders or the crisis management team
In case of an unclear but imminent danger
- Remain calm
- Do not enter hallways
- Do not touch any suspicious objects
- Do not set off a fire alarm
- Hide
- Lock yourself in the room; if necessary, use a table or other objects to jam the door handle
- Stay away from doors and windows; lie down on the floor
- Turn off the lights, silence your cell phone; if it’s safe to do so, call the police
- If necessary, take anyone in danger with you and administer first aid
- Wait inside the room until emergency responders make contact.
Incidents that you wish to report but that do not constitute an immediate emergency or crisis—that is, those that do not require the immediate response of the police, fire department, or emergency medical services—can be reported to the following email address: Sicherheit@hs-rm.de. Information is collected here and prepared for the crisis management team (e.g., insults, stalking, discrimination, defamation, etc.).
Please also report any situations or structural issues on the campus if you feel uncomfortable anywhere or if you notice individuals engaging in inappropriate behavior.
