Still exploring your study options? Find your perfect fit:
Time4ing – Study flexibly with more time
Would you like to start an engineering degree, learn the basics thoroughly, and reduce stress along the way?
The Time4ing program spreads the courses from the first three semesters over five semesters. This means you’ll have fewer courses and examinations per semester and more time for important foundational subjects like mathematics, physics, Computer Science, and Electrical Engineering.
Your benefits at a glance:
- Coaching: Individual support and guidance.
- Study Skills Workshops: In-depth exploration of core subjects in small groups.
- Additional offerings: Other opportunities such as language courses, academic writing, and more.
- Extended BAfög eligibility period by 2 semesters: By spreading out your studies, the standard period of study—and thus the BAfög eligibility period—is extended by two semesters. This is a requirement for BAfög eligibility.
Time4ing offers you the opportunity to structure your studies flexibly and at your own pace while building solid basics in the core subjects.
Yes, if you…
- want to spend more time on the core subjects (math, physics, Computer Science, etc.),
- want to delve deeper into the core subjects in small study groups (study workshops),
- want to take advantage of additional offerings (languages, academic writing, ...),
- want to have more time for family, a part-time job, or a hobby,
- want to receive BAföG for two additional semesters,
- would like to take advantage of individual coaching.
Starting in the 2026–2027 winter semester, Time4ing will be offered in all specializations of the Applied Engineering degree program at the Faculty of Engineering.
The Time4ing Bylaws are included as an appendix to the examination regulations for the bachelor’s degree program in Applied Engineering.
Time4ing is open to students in all specializations within the Engineering degree program during their first three semesters.
