Sustainable and Digital Aviation
What is it about?
Starting Wintersemester 2026/2027
The “Sustainable and Digital Aviation” Master’s program prepares professionals to shape aviation’s environmental and digital transformation. The curriculum focuses on sustainable propulsion and energy sources, sustainability management and lifecycle thinking, as well as data analytics, AI in aviation, digital transformation and cybersecurity. This is complemented by topics such as advanced and urban air mobility, next-generation aircraft systems, change management, business development, law, compliance and legal tech. Teaching is application-oriented and includes interdisciplinary project work and a research-oriented master’s thesis. The design makes digital topics accessible even for non-computer science backgrounds while maintaining technological depth.
Classes are held on Friday afternoons and Saturdays in a blended-learning format with a significant online component. Teaching takes place at the House of Logistics and Mobility (HOLM), located next to Frankfurt Airport within the Rhein-Main aviation hub.
What do I need?
Applicants are expected to hold a Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline (e.g. engineering, computer science, natural sciences) and work in an engineering and aviation-related role (minimum 20 h/week). They should be interested in sustainability, the energy transition, digitalization, data and AI in aviation and be willing to connect technical topics with management, legal and sustainability perspectives. Very good English skills are required, as the program is fully taught in English (level B2+). As a part-time program, it assumes a strong motivation for continuous learning alongside a professional career.
What can I do with it?
Graduates qualify for expert and leadership roles in airlines, airports, manufacturers, authorities and service providers – for example as sustainability or ESG manager, digital transformation manager, aviation data analyst or AI specialist, compliance and regulatory expert, or strategic project manager for sustainability and digital initiatives. The program targets key growth areas such as decarbonization, digitalization, new mobility concepts and regulation, where the demand for highly skilled professionals is increasing. This leads to strong career prospects in an international and dynamic job market.
