International Guests at the Faculty

We host universities from all over the world:

Since we’re centrally located in Germany and so close to Frankfurt Airport, we can provide facilities for meetings. And because there are many tourist and industrial attractions in the immediate vicinity, a visit to us can easily be combined with a quick trip to Heidelberg, Frankfurt, or one of the many companies in the area.

We offer opportunities to pursue a doctorate:

Three of our current doctoral candidates have come to us from all over the world and are now working here on their doctorates. German language courses make the transition into professional life easier; the doctoral seminar is held in English anyway, and we look forward to welcoming new members to our community.

We offer refugee scholars the chance to find a new academic home:

Together with the Institute of International Education (IIE), we do our best to help researchers who have lost their livelihoods at home due to civil wars or other threats. Here, they’ll find a supportive environment where they can continue their research, publish their work, and establish themselves anew.

We conduct research in collaboration with scholars from around the world:

Many of our research activities are conducted in cooperation with international scholars; our colleagues attend conferences both in Germany and abroad. Large-scale projects require international partners anyway, and as we are becoming increasingly active in research, we are also seeking further contacts with international research institutions.

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Prof. Dato' Dr. Ahmad Bin Ibrahim from Malaysia to Hochschule RheinMain – University of Applied Sciences and Arts. During his visit, we engaged in an in-depth discussion about opportunities for collaboration between our universities and the Ungku Aziz Centre for Development Studies.

Prof. Dato' Dr. Ahmad Bin Ibrahim had the opportunity to get to know our university better and learn about our research projects and programs. The exchange was marked by interesting discussions about the differences and similarities in higher education and the current challenges facing both countries.

We look forward to future cooperation and are confident that the visit of Professor Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Bin Ibrahim has laid the foundation for a successful partnership.

What are the differences between a university and a university of applied sciences? How can you apply for a place at university? Where can you get advice about your studies? What sets Hochschule RheinMain – University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSRM) apart? Alexander Kallenberg from the Student Advisory Service (ZSB) answered these questions and many more for a group of 20 students from the German School of Athens in Greece during their visit to HSRM.

During the information session, the students also learned about the higher education system in Germany and the degree programs offered by Hochschule RheinMain – University of Applied Sciences and Arts. In a Q&A session afterward, they were able to ask questions about choosing a major. Together with two teachers, the students from Athens explored the Rhine-Main region. In addition to visiting two universities, the group’s itinerary also included a stop at HSRM to visit a university of applied sciences and arts.

Focus on Three Faculties

In addition to a general introduction, Prof. Dr. Martin Müller presented the Electrical and Aeronautical Engineering degree program. Afterwards, the students had the opportunity to attend the open house at the Wiesbaden Business School. Finally, the group headed to the Unter den Eichen Campus, where the students received a guided tour and plenty of information about the computer science programs at the Faculty of Design Computer Science Media.

On October 25, the Rt. Rev. Dominic Kimengich, Bishop of Eldoret, Kenya, visited students from his diocese. Following a short Mass at the Catholic church in Mainz-Drais, the group discussed about the experiences studying in Germany.
The following day, the bishop visited the Faculty of Engineering. He is responsible for over 100 schools in his diocese. Discussions focused on how more students from Kenya could be admitted to Hochschule RheinMain – University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
