Fachgebiete am Fachbereich Ingenieurwissenschaften im Überblick
The field of IoT and Digital Communication Technology focuses on teaching and research into the networking of people and things and their interaction through the use of modern information and communication technology.
To this end, students learn to design and analyze systems that link information collected by sensors and make it available via the Internet. Modern communication standards such as IEEE802.11, Bluetooth, GSM, UMTS, LTE, RFID, LoRa, Sigfox are used. Modern signal processing methods are used to convert the data from the sensors into meaningful information and to evaluate it.
Basic training includes the simulation of such systems, the programming and measurement of microcontroller platforms and communication technology components as well as protocol analysis, while extensive research activities focus on chipless RFID systems and mmWave radar systems for localization, detection and imaging.
In addition, industry-recognized training events are offered on the topics of Internet-of-Things, Wireless Communications Systems, Software Defined Radio, Amateur Radio and Radio Frequency Technology.
