What is it?

Discover the future of aviation.

Experience a unique combination of electrical and aeronautical engineering. Our degree program will launch you into an exciting career in the aviation industry. Acquire comprehensive knowledge of the development of electronic aircraft systems, unmanned aerial vehicles and alternative propulsion technologies.

Our Electrical and Aeronautical Engineering degree program prepares you for a wide range of professional fields in aviation, with a particular focus on the development and operation of electronic aircraft systems as well as electrical components and propulsion systems in aviation. After acquiring basic knowledge of electrical engineering, you will go on to learn more about the specific requirements and typical aspects of airlines, maintenance and repair operations, air traffic control and airports.

You will apply your theoretical knowledge in practical tasks and projects, from implementing flight models in a research simulator to designing measuring instruments for flight tests.

An up-and-coming field covered in great detail during the course are unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). You will already begin learning about the construction and operation of drones in your first semester.

RheinMain University of Applied Sciences has made a name for itself in the field of alternative, electric propulsion systems with battery storage, fuel cells and hydrogen technology, and is researching their potential application in the aviation industry in various projects.

At our certified flight school, HSRM Aviation Training, you can complete the theoretical part of your private pilot and radio licenses. Flight simulators provide hands-on experience in piloting, navigation, and key cockpit procedures.

What can I do with it?

Our Electrical and Aeronautical Engineering program opens the door to diverse career opportunities in the aviation industry. Your foundation in electrical engineering equips you to tackle the unique challenges faced by airlines, maintenance providers, air traffic control, and airports.
You can specialize in the development and operation of electronic aircraft systems, electrical components, and drives. At the same time, the broad-based curriculum prepares you for roles in other industries where electrical engineering skills are in high demand.
Alternatively, you can deepen your expertise in aviation technology by pursuing our English-taught master’s program, launching in winter semester 2026/27.
