Quantum technologies

The Laboratory for Quantum Technologies (QLab) is a teaching laboratory for bachelor's degree students and, in the future, for master's degree students at Hochschule Rhein Main – RheinMain University of Applied Sciences and Arts. It was established in 2024 in the Faculty of Engineering to provide students with practical access to central concepts of modern quantum technologies. In terms of content, the focus is on teaching the fundamental principles of quantum physics and the four central areas of quantum technologies: quantum communication, quantum computing, quantum sensor technology and quantum simulation.

Quantum technologies are regarded as one of the key technologies of the coming decades. Applications range from tap-proof communication and ultra-precise sensor technology to new forms of information processing. The QLab aims to give students at Hochschule Rhein Main – RheinMain University of Applied Sciences and Arts early access to these technologies and prepare them for developments in science and industry.
