Hydrogen Technology and Energy Storage

The laboratory's task is to introduce students to the practical aspects of renewable energy, energy efficiency and energy storage technologies, i.e. hydrogen and fuel cell technology. Furthermore, the research focuses on systemic applications for efficient energy storage and use.

A large number of bachelor's and master's theses are written in these fields, often in close cooperation with industry.

In the laboratory course, students learn measurement procedures and experimental methods for the quality assessment of fuel cells/batteries and regeneratively produced hydrogen. The production and storage of hydrogen is learned and investigation procedures of various components for energy storage are carried out. The latest hydrogen storage technologies are tested and the necessary measurement procedures for the qualification of batteries and fuel cells are developed - including simulations of digital twins. All projects are carried out in close cooperation with industrial partners.
