First steps in the library
In order to borrow books from us, it is necessary for you to register at the library. Library cards can be issued at all locations during service hours.
The following personal details will be checked when you collect your library card:
- Identity card or passport and registration certificate (this must not be older than 6 months)
- StudentCard
- Additionally for minors: Written declaration of consent and identity card or passport of the legal representative

The Rheinstraße location (Landesbibliothek) is a universal library. Here you will find media from all fields and a large selection of regional literature.
Our four university library locations offer current literature for the resident faculties as well as a selection of theses submitted to the faculties.
- Bertramstraße Library: Wiesbaden Business School faculty
- Kurt-Schumacher-Ring Library: Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering and Faculty of Applied Social Sciences
- Unter den Eichen Library: Faculty of Design Computer Science Media and Media Technology
- Rüsselsheim Library: Engineering Sciences
In our library locations, we offer a limited selection of individual workstations (with and without PCs) as well as group areas. We also offer free WLAN and devices for scanning and copying.
We offer you a comprehensive selection online:

Further e-media are also available in the library and for university members via VPN:

If you are registered with us, you can borrow up to 50 media at a time.
Media marked with an "order" button can be ordered via our {media search}. When ordering, you can choose between the pick-up locations Rheinstraße, Unter den Eichen and Rüsselsheim. The delivery time varies depending on the selected location. The ordered media will then be ready for you at the pick-up location within seven working days.
You can select all other media from the shelves yourself using the signature.
Our media can usually be borrowed for 28 days.
Renew & reserve
You can extend the loan periods of your borrowed books several times yourself or reserve books for loan if they have been borrowed by other people. To do this, please use your personal library account.
Extending in your library account
To renew books online yourself, you must register in your library account.
You will need: Your library card number and your password. The default setting is your date of birth: TTMMYY. You should change your password after your first login.
Please click on "Your loans, extend" on the left and then select the desired title using the box.
Important: Please note that media reserved by other people can no longer be renewed and must therefore be returned by you in good time to avoid overdue fines.
