Researching with AI tools
Would you like to find out more about AI tools and their use in source research or prompting? Then you've come to the right place
With text-generating AI, a prompt is effectively the work order. You tell the AI which text it should create for whom and on which topic. The more precisely you do this, the more efficiently the AI can work. As a result, a fully developed prompt can look like a short essay. If you don't like the first result, you can improve it.
Tips for good prompting
- Role: in which role should ChatGPT write a text (e.g. marketing expert)
- Task/goal: explain to ChatGPT what the result should be and, if applicable, in which format it should be output (e.g. blog article, summary)
- Addressee: who is the text aimed at?
- Style: e.g. scientific for a term paper or funny/exciting for a blog article
- Context: which context could be helpful for a better result?
Experiment with different prompts and wording to find out which works best - don't settle for the first answer. Also let the tool know which text content is useful and which should be improved.
Do not use any confidential or personal data (e.g. names) when using the tool
