The HLB has an extensive digital offering for pupils and, in addition to non-fiction literature and educational videos, also offers materials to promote reading and integration. Pupils have the opportunity to access a wide range of media free of charge.
What do you need?
A valid library card is required to use the services. Information on registration can be found here.
ID cards can be applied for free of charge online from the age of 14 (with a declaration of consent from a parent or guardian) and on site at one of our locations.
Registration for the media offers usually follows the same procedure.
Special features are noted directly with the individual offers.
- Select library in the menu: Wiesbaden/RheinMain University and State Library.
- Enter the number of your library card in the "User number" or "User name" field.
- Enter your personal library password and confirm with Enter.

Brockhaus and Munzinger
The two citable Wikipedia alternatives can also be accessed from home using the data on your library card. Please register with your library card number and password.
In addition to the online encyclopedia, there is also a school encyclopedia and the knowledge portal Climate of the World.
Information on country profiles, biographical data, memorial days and much more. There is also access to Duden Basiswissen Schule. For selected school subjects, the Duden reference works for elementary school, grades 5-10 and Abitur (German secondary school leaving certificate) can be accessed here.

Kindlers Literatur Lexikon: Kindlers Literatur Lexikon up to date for the 21st century. The most important literary works of all times, all regions, all cultures.
Critical lexicon of contemporary literature in foreign languages: a standard work on contemporary world literature
Langenscheidt online dictionary
Duden language knowledge: Duden's standard works provide concise answers to all questions relating to the German language and selected specialist topics such as business and medicine. Access is via the Munzinger platform.

Museum history
Lebendiges Museum Online(LeMO) - the digital platform for German history, which presents objects, texts, media, eyewitness accounts and documents and invites you to explore and research.
Online database National Socialismoffersinformation on German history in the 20th century: National Socialism, the Holocaust, as well as resistance and exile 1933-1945.
Onleihe
Borrow non-fiction and audio books, novels, newspapers, magazines, films and music online free of charge with a check-out period of up to three weeks. Suitable for all ages. A library card and internet access are graded for use. It can be used on various devices such as computers, mobile devices and e-book readers - also as an app for Android and iOS.

The FWU media library is a service for anyone who wants to teach and learn with audiovisual media. Over 5,000 films, sequences, picture galleries, worksheets and educational games are just a mouse click away. They can be accessed on site at the PCs in the library.
The FWU Institute for Film and Image in Science and Teaching is the media institute of the 16 states commissioned with the production of audiovisual media and their use as teaching and learning aids in education, training and science.

The HLB has Abitur trainers and aids, textbooks as well as primary and secondary literature for the subjects German, Biology and Physics available for loan at the Rheinstraße location.

Online vocabulary trainer for 20+ languages. phase6 is a language and vocabulary trainer app for all languages, with which pupils can learn vocabulary with fun and lasting success. There are vocabulary collections for all common school and course books from grade 1 upwards.
