Project description

The mobility transition poses a particular challenge for low-income households. Predominantly below-average household budgets usually admit no scope for the purchase of additional, more investment-intensive means of transport such as electric bicycles or electric cargo bikes. In addition, owning a car, with its association as a status symbol, is an important means of transportation for these groups of people for the majority of their journeys.

As a partner in the project, Hochschule RheinMain is tasked with anticipating the relationships between socio-psychological factors on mobility behavior in general and specifically the process of behavioral change towards the use of electromobile transport options. Based on an explorative primary survey of the MoMa specialist group, concrete target group-specific communication measures (KM) will be carried out by the HfG. After their implementation, the KM will be evaluated by a repeat survey and examined for effectiveness. Due to the rampant COVID-19 pandemic, the survey will be conducted by phone.

Within the project, four pilot areas of social housing (Wiesbaden-Kohlheck, Frankfurt-Niederrad, Kelsterbach-Mainhöhe and Langen-Süd) with a total number of more than 1,200 residential units will offer electric transport services in the form of charging stations, e-cargo bike sharing stations, special conditions for local car sharing and rentable lockable bike boxes.
