Geotechnics laboratory
The geotechnical engineering laboratory at Hochschule RheinMain is characterized by its comprehensive equipment and has a wide range of modern devices, including
- Equipment for soil classification tests (sieving, sedimentation, falling cone, Casagrande, etc.)
- Shear and oedometer devices (fully automatic control and data acquisition)
- Triaxial test rigs (D-, CU-, UU-tests, sample diameter 38mm and 50mm)
- Permeability test rigs (constant and variable hydraulic gradient)
- Proctor device
- Test pit for carrying out large-scale tests
- Field equipment (pile-driving core probe, heavy pile-driving probe, etc.)
The laboratory is available to students as part of the geotechnical practical course and for working on projects and theses after instruction and consultation. In addition, illustrative objects, academic journals and geological maps are available.
The existing laboratory facilities for the investigation of soil and water are also available for the processing of private, industrial and public orders, depending on the available capacity.
