Laboratory for Building and Room Acoustics

Tasks and equipment

In the laboratory for Building and Room Acoustics, components and materials are examined and optimized in terms of sound technology. The laboratory offers a practice-oriented supplement to teaching, with regular experimental demonstrations taking place every semester. These demonstrations serve to illustrate and deepen learning content.

The laboratory is linked to the courses

  • Acoustics.design (elective subject for all degree programs in architecture and building heritage),
  • basics of building physics (bachelor's degree in civil engineering) and
  • Sound insulation technology (master's degree in structural engineering).

In addition, interdisciplinary projects or parts of bachelor's and master's theses can be realized by arrangement.

The laboratory offers a complete range of measuring equipment for determining room and building acoustics parameters (standard impact sound level, sound reduction index, absorption coefficient), and standard-compliant test rooms (ceiling test bench, wall test bench, reverberation room) are also available and used.
