Laboratory for solid construction
Tasks and equipment
The modern equipment of the laboratory for solid construction is the basis for three fields of activity:
- Student internships:
Great importance is attached to ensuring that all students can get their hands on the material themselves. - Application-oriented research by means of student projects and dissertations by bachelor's and master's degree students. You are welcome to contact Prof. Dr. Christian Heese for information on current research projects and possible dissertation topics.
- Materialprüfanstalt für Bauwesen, MPA Wiesbaden.
The MPA Wiesbaden is responsible for official monitoring, certification and material testing in the field of solid construction.
The laboratory infrastructure enables comprehensive examinations of e.g. concrete, wood, natural stone, composite materials and much more, for example strength, fatigue or freeze-thaw tests.
Facilities
The laboratories, evaluation rooms and offices cover approx. 1200m2 and are arranged on three levels. Students have appropriate workstations at their disposal for working on their projects and dissertations.
The laboratory facilities include the following specialist laboratories:
- Construction chemistry
- Component testing
- concrete technology
- binders
- polymers
- Environmental simulation

Digital tour of the solid construction laboratory
In the 3D tour, the laboratory premises can be viewed conveniently from anywhere. Markers provide brief information on the individual rooms and testing machines.
