Laboratories at the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering

Our diverse laboratories support practice-oriented teaching and enable the implementation of research projects at a high level. Through teaching and research projects and the academic appointments of graduates, the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering contributes to the development of architecture, civil engineering, the real estate industry and the transport sector and has an impact on practical experience, the Rhine-Main region and beyond.

  • A group of eight people stands in a room with modern art installations designed to influence the room's acoustics. The installations hang from the ceiling. All elements are shiny silver and come in various organic shapes and curves. One person, facing the viewer, speaks to the others.
Laboratory for Building and Room Acoustics

In the laboratory for Building and Room Acoustics, components and materials are examined and optimized in terms of sound technology.

  • A person with long hair wears a grey hoodie and uses a trowel to apply texture to a large sheet of paper attached to a wall. The wall is made of rough stone, and the paper has an uneven surface.
    Laboratory for building research

The core tasks of the Building Research Laboratory include the dimensional recording and structural and historical analysis of existing constructions.

  • Three women are working together in the geotechnical engineering laboratory at Hochschule RheinMain – University of Applied Sciences and Arts. A woman with brown hair is giving instructions to a student while she measures out ingredients with a spoon. Various bowls and containers with ingredients are on the work surface.
    Geotechnics laboratory

The geotechnical engineering laboratory at Hochschule RheinMain – University of Applied Sciences and Arts has everything the facilities needed to carry out geotechnical experiments.

  • Two students are sitting at desks in the mobility lab. The man in the foreground is wearing a headset and looking at his computer screen, while the other man in the background is relaxed. The environment is simple, with partitions between the workstations.
    Mobility laboratory

The laboratory supports practical teaching in the Mobility Management program, offers space for small groups and provides in-depth research projects by students, members of staff and lecturers.

  • Four people work in the water management laboratory. They carry out various experiments using laboratory equipment. One person looks at the camera while the others concentrate on using pipettes and measuring instruments. The background shows shelves with laboratory utensils.
    Laboratory for urban water management

The laboratory for urban water management (SiWaWi laboratory) offers a practical environment for research, teaching and continuing education on around 60 square meters.

  • A group of six people are standing around a wooden staircase in a laboratory. They are talking together, while some technical equipment and a second ladder are visible in the background.
    Laboratory for staircase construction

In the staircase construction laboratory, the load-bearing behavior, deformations, stresses and vibration behavior of staircase constructions are precisely analyzed.
