What steps do I need to take for recognition?
You must formally apply for recognition of credits earned at other higher education institutions. You submit the application for recognition to the recognition committee of the master's degree program in KIB by the deadline . To do this, please contact our degree program coordinator.
The recognition procedure usually takes six weeks and you must already be enrolled in the KIB master's degree program at Hochschule RheinMain.
No examination for recognition will take place without an application!
We recommend that all students submit their application for recognition as soon as possible after the first day of classes.
Procedure of the recognition process
Step 1:
Achievements from your previous university (source achievements) can be recognized if they do not differ significantly in quality, level, learning outcome, profile or workload from the target achievements applied for (modules of the KIB master's degree program at Hochschule RheinMain).
Therefore, please use the module description of your previous university to examine which of your passed source achievements could be equivalent to target achievements of the Master's degree program KIB. It is also possible to combine two or more modules.
If an assignment is not possible in individual cases, please contact the recognition officer of your degree program. It is best to send the module description of the source course in advance by email and explain your concerns.
Step 2:
Complete the application (available from the degree program coordinator), stating the source achievement with module number contact hours, CP and grade as well as the target achievement with module number and CP. Sign the application.
Obtain the required source proof from your previous higher education institution in the original or as a certified copy. Please note that your application will only be processed if your supporting documents are complete!
You can check that your application is complete by submitting it in person to the Master's degree program office in room D124. If this is not possible, you can send it by post.
Step 3:
The recognition officer evaluates the acquired competencies based on criteria. This means that credits earned at a higher education institution can be recognized as long as they do not differ significantly in terms of quality, level, learning outcomes, profile or workload. You can find more detailed information in the Recognition Statutesof the Hochschule RheinMain.
Step 4:
The Recognition Officer will decide whether your application for recognition of achievements will be approved or rejected. The result will be documented in your student or examination file. You can view recognized target achievements (positive notification) in the examination portal. You will receive a separate notification of rejections.
Please note the following information on the recognition procedure:
- Applications for recognition must be submitted within the specified deadline (usually 1 month after the beginning of the semester).
- Recognition of the source achievement is only possible as long as the studies or examinations to be replaced at Hochschule RheinMain (target achievement) have not yet been taken.
If you have any questions regarding recognition, please contact theRecognition Officerfor the master's degree program KIB.
