The project "Sicher Überholt" aims to improve bicycle safety by developing hardware and software solutions for detecting and classifying overtaking maneuvers by cars.
The project's goals include identifying traffic situations where critical overtaking occurs frequently and proposing infrastructure improvements for cyclists. Specific
objectives for this master's project involve the systematic advancement of the hardware and software of the bike sensor unit, using a bike lamp's battery as the power
source, creating a new compact housing for the new hardware using 3D printing, transitioning to the ESP-Cam Development Board, updating and extending the existing
code framework, migrating the box's user interface from status LEDs to an OLED display, and analyzing further hardware improvements.
