On June 25, 2025, the 5th International Day of the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering took place. Starting at 1:30 p.m., FAB students and exchange students reported on their stays abroad and home universities. Carolin Kaus from the International Office at the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering opened the series of lectures with general information on stays abroad during studies.
The first item on the program was a presentation by exchange student Hamza about his home university, the German Jordanian University (GJU). This presentation was concluded with a live greeting from an HSRM student directly from Jordan, who moved to Amman after two semesters abroad at GJU. Both raved about the Jordanian hospitality and the great food.
Celine then talked about her compulsory internship in Austria and made the audience long for the Austrian mountains, whether for hiking or skiing.
Karen, Yasmin, Luca and Koloman then reported on their participation in a Blended Intensive Program as part of their Master's degree in Architectural Heritage Conservation at the University of Gothenburg and why they would go again at any time.
The fourth participant in the program was another exchange student. Chaewon presented his home university, Konkuk University in Seoul, South Korea. He also created even more of an international feeling by bringing along more exchange students and even his HSRM buddy, who supports him as part of the buddy program.
To conclude, Kim introduced the "Australian way of life" and made everyone in the audience a little envious of her semester abroad at Griffith University, which she organized independently and carried out with financial support from the HAW International Scholarship.
During the break and after the presentations, there was still the opportunity to talk to all the speakers and the members of staff from the International Office at Faculty A and Civil Engineering over cake and lemonade and to clarify any unanswered questions. In the end, the main impression that remained was that the most difficult thing about a stay abroad was the task of deciding on a goal - after all, there are even more partner universities of the faculty than those mentioned above.
