UNESCO Chair at ANIH Forum

26.04.2024 - As part of the International Day for Monuments and Sites 2024 of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), which focused on the theme "'Disasters and Conflicts through the Lens of the Venice Charter'", UNESCO Chair Prof. Michael Kloos gave a lecture at the international forum of the Asian Network of Industrial Heritage, which took place in Taiwan on April 18. This year, the overarching theme of the International Forum on Cultural Heritage was "Sustainability and Resilience". Prof. Kloos was one of the keynote speakers with the title "Critical Review and Impact Assessment". In his speech at the Forum, he gave a comprehensive overview of the current pressures on cultural heritage sites, their management and the use of impact assessment for cultural heritage, drawing on his experience with the transformation of the UNESCO World Heritage Site: the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex in Essen. Prof. Kloos' contribution stimulated lively discussions among the forum participants and promoted dialog on the preservation of cultural heritage.
