Dreikönigstreffen 2023
Dreikönigstreffen 2023 of the MPA Wiesbaden
After a three-year break, the traditional Dreikönigstreffen of the Materials Testing Institute for Civil Engineering (MPA) Wiesbaden took place at University of Applied Sciences RheinMain on Tuesday. The specialist event of the MPA, which is part of the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering, was opened by University President Prof. Dr. Eva Waller and MPA Director Prof. Dr. Christian Heese and attended by more than 80 participants. "The MPA exemplifies the university's strong practical focus - solution-oriented and with its finger on the pulse of the times; with the Dreikönigstreffen, it also actively promotes the exchange of information and knowledge transfer," said Prof. Dr. Waller. "I am therefore delighted to be able to open this event today."
This year's event focused on the conventional and careful restoration of listed exposed concrete surfaces. The program included presentations by renowned experts, for example from the Rhineland-Palatinate State Monument Preservation Department ("Concrete repair from the perspective of monument preservation"), the Institute for Stone Conservation in Mainz ("Durability of repair measures on concrete monuments") and the Munich University of Applied Sciences ("Evaluation of existing coatings on reinforced concrete facades"). In addition, the faculty's laboratories and their activities and expertise were presented before the event ended with a snack and the opportunity to exchange ideas.
About the MPA Wiesbaden
MPA Wiesbaden is a materials testing institute for the construction industry founded in 1962 as an operating unit of the former engineering school in Idstein. Since its foundation, the MPA has developed into a constructive partner of the regional construction industry through numerous building inspectorate recognitions. MPA's contractual partners are regional industrial companies, construction companies, authorities, engineering and architectural offices as well as private individuals. In addition to the traditional concrete and mortar area with building material testing, monitoring, certification, quality assurance and building damage investigation, the divisions of stair construction and timber construction have also been established at MPA Wiesbaden since 1997.
