Waypoints: Architecture students design pavilions

Semester project with the Oberhessen 2027 Landesgartenschau

Waypoints provide orientation in the landscape: in cooperation with the Landesgartenschau (State Garden Show) Oberhessen 2027, 30 students from the bachelor's degree program in Architecture at Hochschule RheinMain developed pavilions for the Upper Hesse region.

After an initial tour under the direction of Prof. Andreas Fuchs to characteristic locations in Upper Hesse, such as Gedern Castle Park, the Nidda reservoir and the Michelnau quarry, the students developed designs for a pavilion that blends harmoniously into the landscape and offers visitors orientation.

The goal of the cooperation is to design architectural landscape experiences that are to be set up at particularly attractive visitor points in the scenery of the Oberhessen State Garden Show. The planned buildings also have the potential to establish themselves as attractive tourist routes far beyond the Landesgartenschau.

The projects have now been presented in an exhibition in Bad Salzhausen and show ideas for locations such as Eichelsdorf-Nidda, Lißberg-Ortenberg and Gedern Castle Park.

Brochure accompanying the exhibition

The brochure presents the designs from the winter semester 2024/25 and also offers orientation on current topics in Architecture. The individual designs respond to the much-vaunted issue of sustainability in a differentiated way through their materiality, ephemeral appearance or temporary and spatially flexible structures.

The digital booklet can be downloaded from our website.
