"More is more": Graduates of the faculty celebrate

Graduates of the year 2024

Congratulations and celebration at the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering for alumni of Hochschule RheinMain

Around 160 guests gathered in the AudiMax (main lecture hall) and foyer of the Building A on Kurt-Schumacher-Ring to celebrate their graduation together with the 2024 graduates of the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering. Kathrin Janisch, Alumni Representative of the faculty, hosted the program.

"More is more!"

Referring to Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's principle "Less is more", which emphasizes the power of reduction to the essentials, University President Prof. Dr. Eva Waller focused on the saying "More is more" in her welcoming address. She expressed her admiration and praise for the graduates' tireless efforts and successful overcoming of numerous challenges during their studies. She acknowledged the specialization and expertise acquired by the graduates and underlined the relevance of the transfer of theory into practical experience, which many were able to experience during their studies. And: "Don't let anyone tell you that life's paths are straightforward and that you have to take the one and only path that exists for you today and in the future. Trial and error will show you the way," emphasized Prof. Dr. Waller emphatically.

The Dean of the faculty, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Robert Kanz, also paid tribute to the graduates as competent, solution-oriented and creative students during their studies and encouraged them: "Stay open to communication, new ideas and approaches and dare to try out alternative solutions."

Learned a lot, sometimes stumbled

One student contribution came from Leon Brogl-Majal (Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering) and Yasmin Sauter (Bachelor's degree in Architectural Heritage Conservation). They gave a joint tour of their semesters, humorously showing what they had learned, stumbling blocks and what they enjoyed during their studies.

The Degree Program Heads of the Civil Engineering (B.Eng.), Architectural Heritage Conservation (B.Sc. and M.Sc.), Civil Engineering & Construction Management (M.Eng.), Mobility Management (B.Eng.), Sustainable Mobility (M.Eng.) and Environmental Management and Urban Planning in Metropolitan Areas (M.Sc.) degree programs addressed personal words to their former students, wished them success for the future and congratulated them.

The celebration ended with a festive toast with champagne and wine together with the guests of the HSRM alumni.
