How can I get recognition for courses I have taken abroad?
Grades of students who have earned credits during a stay abroad (e.g. an ERASMUS mobility) that are to be recognized at HSRM are converted at the International Office.
Courses that cannot be recognized in the form of ECTS will be transferred to your Transcript of Records.
- Before your stay abroad, you will conclude a so-called Learning Agreement with the internationalization or recognition officer of your degree program (please make an appointment early on to discuss your course selection). The credits entered here will be recognized after your return from abroad, if you have passed them.
You will need to have your grades converted after your stay abroad. Contact Eva Bauer from the International Office: erasmus@hs-rm.de
Please send the transcript of records you received from the partner university by email, including an explanation of the grading system there. This can often be found on the back of the transcript.According to § 1 para. 5 of the Recognition Statutes of Hochschule RheinMain, the conversion of foreign grades into the German grading scheme is based on the resolutions of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic of Germany, i.e. the so-called "Bavarian formula" is used for the conversion.
- Next, for Erasmus+ stays, have the internationalization or credit recognition officer for your program sign the “after the mobility” document again to confirm that the courses will be credited to you. Then upload the signed document to Mobility Online
- Finally, you must submit the application for credit recognition in KommA—the credit recognition tool. You can find more information about this at the Student Office.
