Instructions for storing and caring for the StudentCard
The chip card contains a contactless Mifare chip inside with its antenna running along the outer edge. The chip or its position is practically invisible from the outside, as is the antenna.
The chip card must not be bent strongly (risk of antenna breakage), nor must it be allowed to become slightly curved. If the chip card is curved or heavily soiled, the update imprint (validity date) will be impaired or impossible.
High temperatures, which can occur in parked vehicles in summer, also have a negative effect. Very low temperatures (frost) are also problematic, as the plastic loses its flexibility and the card can easily break.
It is generally recommended to keep the card in the protective cover issued by Hochschule RheinMain.
If the chip card becomes unusable due to improper handling, the student must bear the costs of the replacement card themselves. A fee is payable for the production and issue of a new electronic student ID card, the amount of which is set out in the "Verwaltungskostenordnung für den Geschäftsbereich des Ministeriums für Wissenschaft und Kunst" as amended. This is currently 15.00 euros.
