Application and enrollment

1. Click on the "Register now" button above and you will be redirected to the HSRM-COMPASS application portal.
   If the button above does not appear, the registration is closed and not yet activated for the next procedure.
    
2. Under "Apply" select "Start application/enrollment"
   => Select winter semester 2026/27
   => "Add application..."
   => Select "Begabtenprüfung Communication Design" or "Begabtenprüfung Media: Conception & Production". NOT bachelor's degree.
   => Continue with the required information
    
3. Upload proofs
   Format pdf. Max. File size 1.5 MB (preferably black and white)
    
4. Submit your application online by the deadline
    
5. The Admissions Office will process your application
   Application incomplete?
   You will receive a message in your application account if proof is missing.
   
   Application complete?
   You will receive an invitation to take part in the artistic aptitude test in your application account.
   The invitation for the Talent Day Media: Conception & Production may only be sent after the application deadline.

• For commencement of studies in the winter semester:
  27 May
• For commencement of studies in the summer semester:
  27 November

• Higher education entrance qualification (HZB):
  It is not mandatory to upload your HZB for registration for the examination. However, we strongly recommend this so that we can examine whether you must pass the examination with distinction in order to be able to enroll in the program.
  
  If you do not have a HZB for Hessen and for the degree program (and will not have one at the time of enrollment), you must pass the examination with distinction in order to be able to enroll in the program.
  
  You can also register for the examination if you have not yet obtained your higher education entrance qualification at the time of the examination (e.g. the practical part of the HZB will only be completed shortly before the first day of classes for the degree program). 
   

  For foreign higher education entrance qualifications, please clarify in advance with the International Team which proof we require and whether you have a HZB for the degree program: Team International
   

• For the Talent Day Media: Conception & Production additionally:
  Completed motivation questionnaire.

Yes, you can register for both the Communication Design aptitute test and the Talent Day Media: Conception & Production.

However, the examination dates may overlap. If this is the case, please contact us. If possible, we will assign you to a different exam day for the Talent Day.

Please note: If you pass both examinations, you will have to decide whether you want to enrol in Communication Design or Media: Conception & Production. Simultaneous enrollment in both degree programs is not possible.

After the examination, we will inform you promptly (usually within 10 days) of the examination result.

You will receive a notification in your electronic inbox of your application account.

You will receive an automatic email.

The status of your application will change to "valid" or "admission offer not possible" depending on your exam result.

Have you passed the examination? Congratulations! Remember that you will not automatically be able to study. In the next step, you must apply for enrollment within the enrollment period*.

You want to enroll in the first semester: Information on the application for enrollment can be found here.

You would like to enroll in a higher semester (e.g. as a lateral entrant with recognition of academic achievements): Information on the application can be found here.

Enrollment must be applied for no later than 3 years after the examination, otherwise you will have to take the examination again.

*Do not forget, if you do not have a higher education entrance qualification for the degree program, enrollment is only possible if the artistic aptitude test has been passed with distinction.
