The project is scheduled to run for three years, has a volume of around 850,000 euros and is being funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the state of Hesse with a total of 453,473 euros.
“The new Transfer Hub is part of the HSRM's transfer strategy and the innovation strategy of the state of Hesse. It bundles the transfer potential of the HSRM and builds on proven structures and networks. In this way, we are creating new offers, especially for innovations of a certain maturity, promoting cooperation, start-ups and innovations in a targeted manner and acting as a link to business and society,” says Vice-President for Research, Entrepreneurship and Science Communication, Prof. Dr. Andreas Brensing. “Through the hub, we want to strengthen the innovative power of the region, support the recruitment of skilled workers and enable sustainable development.”
HSRM as a hub
The Rhine-Main region is facing challenges such as digitalization, global competition, ecological change and a shortage of skilled workers. The HSRM sees it as its task to act as a hub for transfer and exchange. “We have a wealth of experience from projects such as IMPACT RheinMain and RheinMain StartUpLabs. However, there is an additional need to systematically exploit existing potential in the link between science and business and to align processes more closely with external requirements,” says Prof. Dr. Brensing.
The Transfer Hub focuses on the following project components:
- Systematic advice and support for knowledge and technology-based start-up projects, as a supplement to existing formats such as the RheinMain StartUpLabs
- Expansion of transfer services and communication formats for teaching staff, researchers and students
- Establishment of a central contact point for start-ups and transfer with coworking and co-creation space
- Expansion of existing and creation of new partnerships with companies, local authorities, universities and other institutions
- Development of innovative event formats such as transfer exchanges and matching events
- Promotion of a service and customer-oriented transfer culture
Sustainability and social impact
The RheinMain Transfer Hub also strengthens the university's sustainability offensive. The Hub therefore also supports projects for the integration of renewable energies, sustainable supply, the creative processing of social challenges and the promotion of social innovations. The measures are aimed at ensuring the region's competitiveness and adaptability and increasing regional value creation.
