What do I need to prepare?
For a successful exchange semester at Hochschule RheinMain, it is important that you plan and prepare your stay well in advance. Here you will find an overview of the most important topics.
Hochschule RheinMain does currently not offer its own accommodation for students.
However, in order to meet the accommodation needs of our exchange students, we work closely with private providers of student accommodation in Wiesbaden.
Exchange students have the opportunity to apply to us for the available room contingents with these providers.
Applications are made via the International Office of Hochschule RheinMain as part of the exchange application process. You will receive further information on available student accommodation with your application link.
There are no tuition fees at Hochschule RheinMain. Hoewever, students pay a semester fee. The reduced semester fee for exchange students is currently around 290 Euro. With the semester fee, all students receive the Deutschland-Ticket, which enables them to use local and regional public transport throughout Germany.
For living expenses, students should expect around 1000 Euro per month (for accommodation, food and other expenses). This corresponds to the monthly amount that must be proven when applying for a visa or residence permit (currently 992 Euro/month). On the website of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) you will find further information on the subject.
As part of our Blended Welcome Weeks for Exchange Students, we welcome all exchange students to Wiesbaden on March 19, 2025.
Previous offers will take place online.
Our intensive German course for exchange students will take place from March 24 - April 5, 2025 at the campus Kurt-Schumacher-Ring in Wiesbaden.
Lectures period starts on April 14, 2025.
You can view the academic calendar here.
All students with EU citizenship can enter Germany without a visa and study with us for one or two semesters.
Students without EU citizenship consult the website of the Federal Foreign Office for information on the correct entry procedure.
Some non-EU nationals (e.g. Australia, Brazil, South Korea or USA,...) can enter Germany without a prior visa application.
Students of other nationalities must apply for a visa at the relevant embassy/consulate before traveling to Germany. You will receive a letter of invitation from us after you have been accepted to the exchange program.
For stays of more than 90 days, every non-EU student must apply for a residence permit after arriving in Germany.
After students have received their acceptance letter, the next step is enrollment.
The following documents must be submitted so that the Admissions Office can enroll you.
- Passport/ID card
- Passport photo
- Proof of sufficient health insurance
- Payment of the semester fee
You will receive further detailed information on the enrollment documents to be submitted with your acceptance letter.
Please wait for this information.
We will inform you about other topics that will be important after your arrival (e.g. registering your place of residence, applying for a residence permit, starting your courses with us) during our Blended Welcome Weeks for Exchange Students.
