Upcoming Academics

The professorship at a university of applied sciences (UAS) plays a central role in academic training and research. UAS professors are not only involved in teaching, but are also responsible for the application and development of practice-oriented knowledge. They are crucial for the training of specialists who meet the requirements of the labor market. By closely integrating theory and practical experience, HAW professors help to ensure that students are optimally prepared for their academic appointments.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Teaching: UAS professors actively shape the degree programs and impart theoretical and practical knowledge in their field. They supervise students in lectures, seminars and internships.
  • Research: Research at UASs is strongly application-oriented and aims to develop solutions to practical problems. UAS professors often work together with companies and institutions to realize innovative projects.
  • Consulting and cooperation: UAS professors are often active in continuing education and consulting for companies. They contribute their expertise to bridge the gap between theory and practical experience.

Qualifications

The following qualifications are generally required to obtain a UAS professorship:

  • A university degree in a relevant field.
  • A doctorate or equivalent academic qualification.
  • Five years of professional experience, at least three years of which must be outside the higher education institution.
  • Teaching skills and experience in teaching.
