Syrian Cultural Evening in Rüsselsheim
On June 9, Syrian students at Hochschule RheinMain – University of Applied Sciences and Arts transformed the foyer at the Rüsselsheim Campus into a space celebrating Syrian culture. Through large-format posters, they shared information about their country’s history and culture, as well as their hope for a swift reconstruction. Above all, it was important to them that their country not be associated solely with war and destruction, but also with its rich history, cultural achievements, and the extraordinary Syrian hospitality. Guests experienced this firsthand when they were served plates of homemade culinary delights. The story of the Syrian students at HSRM is a success story: having arrived in the country without any knowledge of German, they were the third-largest group among international students in 2021. Many have since earned degrees and are now working, and have acquired German citizenship.

Sustainability during a semester abroad: student photo project
As part of an extraordinary photo project, three students from our university submitted impressive contributions on the topic of sustainability during their semester abroad. These projects show how individual initiatives can help improve the environment and promote sustainable lifestyles in different countries.
Luc Chevalier, who is studying Media: Conception & Production, documented Benjakitti Park in Bangkok, where urban space is being ecologically upgraded. With his atmospheric photographs, he shows the diversity of nature that flourishes here despite the metropolis.
Another student from Bern reports on how she is actively reducing food waste and making her everyday life more sustainable by buying savior bags.
Media Management student Chiara Friedrich's contribution focuses on environmentally friendly mobility and conscious consumption during her semester abroad.
These diverse student perspectives provide insights into global environmental awareness and sustainable practical experiences and can be an inspiration for others.
