Studying abroad with Erasmus+
The EU program Erasmus+ has been promoting student mobility and European collaboration since 1987. It offers you the unique opportunity to study in another European country for one or more semesters. Not only will you broaden your social and cultural skills, but you will also gain valuable insights into the academic system and teaching methods of a foreign higher education institution.
Since its launch, more than 4 million students have been funded throughout Europe, including more than 650,000 from Germany. At Hochschule RheinMain, you can also benefit from Erasmus+, be it to study at a partner university or to complete an internship in another European country.
Take advantage of this opportunity to make your studies more international and to gain an exciting intercultural experience!
The following countries participate in the program:
- EU member states
- Iceland
- Liechtenstein
- Norway
- Turkey
- Serbia
- North Macedonia
Great Britain no longer participates in the ERASMUS program. However, study visits to partner universities can usually still be funded. This depends on our budget situation.
Switzerland has its own funding program for students, which you can apply for directly through your Swiss host university.
You can only receive an Erasmus scholarship if you have a spot in an exchange program at a partner university.
To prepare your application, please find out more about the partner university of your choice and the course catalog on their website. Read on to find a list of our partner universities.
- Places at partner universities in the participating countries for one or two semesters (depending on the degree program)
- Exemption from tuition fees at the partner university
- Monthly financial grant, depending on the destination country (see rates below). Participants with special needs can apply for additional funding.
- Simplified enrollment at the partner university
- Support during preparation of the stay abroad by Hochschule RheinMain and, generally, on-site support by the host university (accommodation, leisure and cultural program, etc.)
- Recognition of courses taken abroad in accordance with the pre-arranged learning agreement
- Support during preparation (cultural, linguistic, organizational)
You can get ERASMUS funding for a maximum of 12 months in each degree (bachelor's, master's or doctorate). That is, up to 36 months in total, depending on the available budget, including internship funding. The minimum length of stay at a partner university is two months.
If you wish to extend your stay, you must inform us at least one month in advance.

PROCEEDING:
Once you have a spot in the ERASMUS program, please compile the application documents for the host university and send them to the HSRM International Office. Find more information about the required documents on the host university's website.
For your ERASMUS scholarship, please send us the ERASMUS APPLICATION DOCUMENTS, which can be downloaded via the portal:
- Grant Agreement: Please submit the original with signature in paper form
- Learning Agreement: Together with the International Coordinator in your faculty, select the courses you would like to take abroad, clarify recognition and complete the online Learning Agreement. We will send you the link.
- Certificate of Arrival: Have this document filled out at the International Office of your host university upon arrival and upload it to the portal.

Depending on the availability of our licenses, we can then offer you a corresponding online language course.
As soon as we have received all the required documents, you will receive the first installment of your scholarship, amounting to 80% of the total scholarship.
A few weeks before the end of your stay, please remember to take care of your ERASMUS FINAL DOCUMENTS
A few weeks before the end of your stay, please remember to take care of your ERASMUS FINAL DOCUMENTS:
- Certificate of Attendance: Please have this document signed by the International Office of your host university and upload it to the Mobility Online Portal.
- Experience report: Please write an experience report (approx. 3 pages). It will help other students who would like to go to this partner university in the future and will provide important feedback. In addition, you must complete an online EU questionnaire to evaluate your stay.
- Upload the Transcript of Records and the last part of the Learning Agreement from your host university to the portal. Submit the documents to your faculty for recognition of your completed courses.
- Repeat the online language test to see how your foreign language skills have developed.
The final documents must be submitted to us no later than four weeks after your stay at the host university. You will then receive the remaining 20% of your scholarship.
Send an email to erasmus@hs-rm.de for questions about the Erasmus scholarship. You can also arrange an advising session (on-site or online).
We are particularly keen to encourage students with disabilities to study abroad. As the type of impairment can vary greatly, we will be happy to advise you individually.
You can also seek advice from Student Advising (Division I.1).
