RECOGNITION OFFICE FOR FOREIGN PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
The Recognition Office for Foreign Professional Qualifications conducts the recognition procedures for foreign professional qualifications in regulated social professions according to the Hessian Child and Youth Welfare Code and the Hessian and the Hessian law regarding the recognition of qualifications in caring professions (SozBAG) on behalf of the Hessian Ministry of Higher Education, Research and the Arts (HMWK).
Persons who have the corresponding certificates can submit the following applications:
- Application for recognition as childcare professional
Recognition requires a foreign university degree in early childhood pedagogy, general pedagogy or social care. The equivalence assessment will be conducted according to paragraph 25b of the Hessian Child and Youth Welfare Code (HKJGB) from 18 December 2006, last amended by section 2 of the law from 15 October 2014 (GVBl p.241).
- Application for recognition as state-recognized social worker, social pedagogue, curative pedagogue or childhood pedagogue
State recognition requires a foreign higher education qualification in social work or a similar qualification, curative pedagogy or childhood pedagogy. The equivalence assessment will be conducted according to the Hessian law regarding the recognition of qualifications in caring professions (SozBAG) in consideration of EU Directive 2005/36.
