The hsrm app is expected to be available in the app stores starting October 1. As soon as the app is available for download in the App Store and on Google Play, you'll find the corresponding links on this page as well.

The app is primarily intended for students at Hochschule RheinMain – University of Applied Sciences and Arts. However, some features (e.g., the cafeteria schedule) are also available to staff and visitors.

We recommend using the hsrm app, as it combines the digital student ID and many other helpful features in one central location and provides convenient mobile access to the university’s services.

However, use of the hsrm app is optional. As an alternative to the digital student ID, you can request a replacement certificate from the Admissions Office. Once requested via Compass, this certificate will be made available for you to download.

The replacement certificate serves as proof of your student status and also contains the barcode for your library card. However, it cannot replicate all the technical features of the digital student ID.

Yes. Students in higher semesters can continue to use their StudentCard as a student ID during a transitional period. Your StudentCard remains valid through March 31, 2027, and you can still use it to verify your identity at the Mensa (dining hall) through the end of 2026. We therefore recommend that you switch to the digital student ID in the hsrm app as soon as possible.

Starting in the 2026/27 winter semester, new students at HSRM will no longer receive a chip card but will instead have direct access to their digital student ID through the hsrm app. We therefore recommend that you install the hsrm app after you have activated your HDS account. 

Yes, students can download and use the hsrm app for free. The app will be available in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store starting October 1.

The hsrm app brings together important information and digital resources from the university in one central location. It gives students quick and convenient mobile access to the following features:

  Your digital student ID is always at your fingertips on your smartphone—including your library card and European Student Identifier (ESI).

  View your current exam grades directly in Compass.
• News
  Stay up to date on the latest information, news, and announcements from the university.
• Email
  Access your university email account quickly and without any additional setup.

  (dining hall) Check out the current meal plans for the dining halls.

  Keep track of borrowed materials and important deadlines.
• Important Links
  Quickly access key university services, learning platforms, and other important pages.

No, the hsrm app is an additional service. The university’s existing platforms and access channels—such as Compass—will remain available. The app consolidates selected information and features and provides convenient mobile access.

To take full advantage of the hsrm app, you'll need your HDS ID to log in. You'll also need to upload a headshot for your digital student ID.

Yes, the hsrm app is tailored to the person currently logged in and displays personalized content, such as the digital student ID.

In the news section, you can choose which feeds you’d like to follow. Additionally, there are other settings available that let you customize the app to your personal needs.

Some content is also available offline—for example, news articles you've already downloaded or your student ID, which can be viewed for up to seven days without an internet connection. However, you'll need an active internet connection to access the latest data, emails, or navigation features.

At the Mensa (dining hall), you can use the app to verify that you are a student and receive the student discount. You can then pay cashless using standard payment methods.

1. Discover Channels: Open the News Feed and select “Discover” to view all available university channels.
2. Subscribe to a channel: Select the channel you want and tap “Follow.”
3. View subscribed channels: Tap the menu icon in the upper-right corner to open the “Following” section. There you’ll find all the channels you’ve subscribed to.
4. Set up notifications: Tap the bell icon next to a subscribed channel to turn push notifications on or off for that channel.
5. Unsubscribe: If you no longer want to follow a channel, you can unsubscribe at any time using the same menu.

UniNow GmbH is a German company based in Magdeburg. It is the technical provider of the hsrm app and a partner of Hochschule RheinMain – University of Applied Sciences and Arts.

The university has entered into the necessary agreements with UniNow, which govern data protection and data security requirements. The login credentials for your HDS account are neither processed nor stored on UniNow’s servers. Personal data retrieved from the university’s systems is immediately deleted from UniNow’s servers after it has been processed for display in the app.

Certain data required for the technical operation of the app may be processed and stored in accordance with the privacy policy. This includes, for example, technical log data.

The protection of your personal data is ensured through technical, organizational, and contractual measures. Hochschule RheinMain – University of Applied Sciences and Arts has entered into the necessary contracts with UniNow for the operation of the app, which specify the requirements for data protection and data security.

Your HDS login credentials are not processed or stored on UniNow’s servers but are transmitted directly from your smartphone to the university’s systems. Personal data retrieved from the university’s systems is processed solely for display within the app and is subsequently deleted from UniNow’s servers.

To ensure secure and stable operation, certain technical data—such as the app version, operating system, and IP address—are stored in log files for a limited period of time. The servers and databases for the app are operated in data centers within the European Union. For further details, please refer to the hsrm app’s privacy policy.

To provide the hsrm app, UniNow processes certain data. Your HDS login credentials are not transmitted to UniNow; instead, they are sent directly from your smartphone to the university’s systems. University data retrieved for display in the app is processed on UniNow’s servers only temporarily and is then deleted immediately. 

UniNow uses contractually bound IT service providers for technical operations. Data will not be disclosed to third parties beyond this scope unless required by law or unless you have given your express consent—for example, when using push notifications.
