For three days, legal experts from Hochschule RheinMain (RheinMain University of Applied Sciences) and from several universities in Ukraine, Austria and Switzerland discussed the reform of Ukrainian procedural law. The working meeting took place at the  Wiesbaden Business School who partnered up with the Deutsch-Ukrainischen Juristenvereinigung e. V. (German-Ukrainian Lawyers Association, DUJV) for a research project funded by the HessenFonds.

The kick-off event discussed challenges and possible solutions to ensure the independence of judges and lawyers in Ukraine. The aim of the research project is to develop reform approaches for a functioning judiciary to support the process of Ukraine's accession to the EU.

The second day started with Michael Gahler, Member of the European Parliament, giving a presentation on  European support measures for Ukraine. The discussion groups focused on developing work packages for the next project phase. The results will be presented at a conference next year. A tour of Wiesbaden and a visit to the Eberbach monastery rounded off the program.
