Health Care Economics
What is it?
Medical innovations, limited resources, an aging population, and rising standards of care are placing increasing demands on the healthcare system. To ensure sustainable progress, the industry needs experts who can bridge the gap between economics and patient care. This is exactly where the bachelor’s degree in Health Care Economics comes in – it prepares you for management roles in hospitals, care facilities, and the broader healthcare sector.
You will gain a solid understanding of how the healthcare system is structured and financed, along with key knowledge in areas such as controlling, budgeting, hospital management, and the fundamentals of medicine, digitization, law, and mathematics.
From the fourth semester onward, you’ll explore advanced topics such as strategy, quality management, and human resources. An internship semester further emphasizes the program’s strong real-world orientation. In addition, soft skills like communication and academic writing are an integral part of your training.
What can I do with it?
Upon graduation, a wide range of career paths will be open to you – in hospitals, insurance companies, consulting firms, healthcare organizations, or interest groups. You will be responsible for developing budgets, optimizing processes, and acting as the key business interface for medical management.
