Health Care Economics
What is it?
Medical innovations, limited resources, an aging population, and higher and higher standards of medical care. The healthcare industry needs professionals who can integrate economics with patient care to ensure the greatest levels of benefit and sustainability. And that’s where the Bachelor of Science in Health Care Economics comes in.
The degree program equips graduates for management roles in hospitals, care facilities, and healthcare management.
You’ll learn about how the healthcare system is organized and funded, as well as aspects of controlling, budgeting, and hospital management. You’ll also learn fundamental principles of medicine, digitization, law, and mathematics.
From the fourth semester, you’ll dig deeper into topics such as strategy, quality management, and human resources management. A practical semester will reinforce the relevance of the program to the workplace. Soft skills such as communication and academic writing are also covered.
What can I do with it?
After completing your degree, many options will be available to you at insurers, management consultancies, healthcare-related companies, and advocacy groups. You’ll develop budgets and optimize processes – and you’ll be the business contact person for the medical management team.
