Digitization

Advancing digitalization is profoundly changing companies, markets and business processes. It opens up new opportunities, but also brings with it challenges. The Wiesbaden Business School therefore focuses on researching digital technologies and their impact on the economy and society. Topics such as digital business models, artificial intelligence, big data and automation play a central role here.

In this context, a working group deals with the development of innovative solutions for the optimization of business processes and information systems. The research covers various application areas such as e-business, digital finance, the digitalization of administration and digital marketing.

The goal is to actively shape the digital transformation, support companies in adapting to new technological challenges and research the economic, legal and social implications of digitalization.

Healthcare

The healthcare research focus at our faculty is dedicated to the investigation and further development of economic aspects in the healthcare sector.

A central component of this research focus is the WiHelP research center, which focuses on researching and improving health economics and patient safety. WiHelP pursues an interdisciplinary approach and combines economic, medical and social perspectives in order to develop innovative solutions in the healthcare sector.

Research in the field of health economics deals with the analysis of healthcare systems, the evaluation of healthcare services and the investigation of cost-benefit ratios. Both qualitative and quantitative methods are used to promote evidence-based decisions and optimize health care.

In addition, the research focus places great importance on identifying trends and challenges in the healthcare system, such as demographic change, the digitalization of healthcare and the increasing expectations of patients. The results of the research activities are not only incorporated into teaching, but also into the development of practical solutions that contribute to improving healthcare and the quality of life of the population.

Overall, the research focus on healthcare aims to make a significant contribution to the further development of the healthcare sector through interdisciplinary approaches and practice-oriented research and to prepare students in the best possible way for their future tasks in this important area.

Mobility and logistics

The research focus on mobility and logistics has set itself the goal of developing innovative and sustainable solutions in the areas of mobility and logistics. It pursues an interdisciplinary approach that promotes the integration of a wide range of perspectives and specialist disciplines.

A central concern of this research focus is the systematic analysis and development of markets that stand between transport demand and supply. Particular attention is paid to the planning, implementation and operation of infrastructures and services in order to ensure efficient and environmentally friendly handling of transport demand. Measures to avoid and shift traffic as well as to optimize traffic flows are comprehensively examined.

In the field of logistics, a comprehensive consideration of the flows of goods, information and finances is sought. The goal is to analyze and optimize the processes of procurement, production and distribution. A particular focus is on promoting a resource-conserving circular economy that takes both ecological and economic aspects into account.

In the mobility field of action, the focus is on creating and securing barrier-free and needs-oriented mobility solutions. The needs of potentially mobility-impaired people are taken into account here, as is the identification of behavioral factors and steering mechanisms that can contribute to satisfying these needs.

The subject area of mobility and logistics has traditionally had a very high priority in the Rhine-Main region and is also, now more than ever, of particularly high social relevance. The Wiesbaden Business School is particularly well positioned in this research area thanks to its membership of the Mobility and Logistics Doctoral Center (PZML) and its long-standing and established collaborations with other higher education institutions and institutions (including Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, HS Fulda, HOLM). In addition, joint third-party funded projects are being initiated with the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering 's specialization in mobility management (including Verkehrsmittel WB, VRNNextbike, RadEffekt).

The close cooperation with the RITMO research center makes it possible to comprehensively address the challenges and opportunities of mobility and logistics in the 21st century and thus actively contribute to the sustainable development of our society.

Sustainability

Social inequality, environmental degradation, resource scarcity and climate change are key challenges for the economy and society. Sustainability is therefore not only an ethical imperative, but is increasingly influencing economic conditions and business decisions.

Our faculty is therefore researching how sustainable behavior and resilient economic systems can be promoted. Qualitative and quantitative methods from the social and economic sciences are used to analyze the behavior of market participants and to identify, evaluate and optimize effective sustainability-promoting measures.

A particular focus is on developing cost-efficient and practical solutions that facilitate sustainable action. Many existing measures are associated with high costs, complex implementation or low acceptance. For this reason, research is specifically investigating behavioral interventions - for example by providing information or incentive systems - to support sustainable decisions without restricting individual freedom of choice.

The goal is to use sound scientific findings to point the way to a more sustainable economy and to support companies and political actors in designing sustainable strategies.
