Around 200 students from the Wiesbaden Business School celebrated their successful graduation on Friday. Graduates, families, friends, teaching staff and employees of the faculty came together at the traditional sparkling wine producer Henkell & Co. to honor this special milestone in a festive setting.
In his welcoming address, Dean Prof. Dr. Till Dannewald reminded everyone that a degree is much more than just a formal title. "Your certificates stand for curiosity, drive, responsibility and the courage to face new challenges," said the Dean. The coming years would be characterized by technological developments and social changes - making it all the more important to take responsibility and build bridges between business, society and innovation. The university management, represented by Vice-President Prof. Dr. Christian Schachtner, also warmly congratulated the graduates and emphasized that their studies had given them the tools to master the current times of change. Wiesbaden's Lord Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende was there in person to congratulate the graduates. "You can be proud of what you have achieved," emphasized Mende. He emphasized the close connection between the university and the city and referred to the diverse academic appointments that Wiesbaden offers as a business location.
However, the focus of the ceremony was on the graduates themselves. Following the ceremonial presentation of the academic transcripts, the Betriebswirtschaftliche Gesellschaft Wiesbaden e. V. (BGW) also presented awards to the best graduates of the year. Special prizes were also awarded this year to three students for their outstanding theses, recognized by the Deutsche Bundesbank. In his laudatory speech, Dr. Ulf Slopek, President of the Hesse head office, emphasized: "All your efforts have paid off, you can be proud of your achievements."
Study nights, group work, deadlines and joint successes
Sebastian Tosun(Health Care Economics) and Sabrin Ramadan(International Management) spoke personal words from the graduates. They looked back on intensive semesters - long nights of studying, group work, deadlines and joint successes. The studies not only taught them expertise, but also self-confidence, team spirit and the ability to solve complex problems. "We were trained in a challenging time that we can now actively shape," said Tosun. "So let's remain willing to learn, use our networks and take responsibility," he appealed to his former fellow students. She thanked the lecturers who "saw potential when we didn't see it yet", said graduate Ramadan.
The Associate Dean of the Wiesbaden Business School, Professor Dr. Marina Grusevaja, also congratulated the graduates. "You will shape the economy differently: more open, more sustainable, more human," said the Associate Dean. She gave the graduates three guiding principles to take with them: "Firstly, stay curious, secondly, act with integrity, show backbone even when decisions are difficult and thirdly, appreciate the people who accompany you, because success does not come about alone."
