Where AI, International Teamwork & Real-World Marketing Meet: The Promptathon at Wiesbaden Business School
How do you teach the creativity and teamwork of real-world marketing within a single class session?
In the course “Internationalization Strategies in Marketing”, taught by Professor Tatjana Steusloff at Wiesbaden Business School, students experienced exactly that through a fast-paced and highly interactive Promptathon.
This semester, the class collaborated with the German natural cosmetics company boep, challenging students to develop a digital marketing strategy tailored to the brand. The Promptathon was supported by Alexander Kaib of the university’s TeachingLearningCenter (LLZ), with a briefing of the university’s own AI tool as well as an introduction to prompting. In mixed teams of seven, made up of international as well as German students, the students were given just 60 minutes to complete their task. Working exclusively with the university’s own AI tool, students were asked to develop a suitable digital communication initiative as well as fitting personas for the company boep. This included the challenging tasks of generating fitting AI-based images as well as preparing a visually coherent presentation that aligned with boep’s branding.
The limited time frame, strict reliance on the university’s own AI resources, and the requirement to combine creativity with brand authenticity created an exciting, high-pressure environment.
Students had to collaborate efficiently, divide responsibilities strategically, and make rapid decisions, which created a real world setting of modern marketing teams navigating tight deadlines and limited capacities.
The Promptathon also gave participants hands-on experience in exploring how AI can function as a practical tool within the creative process. From structuring ideas to drafting content and visualizing customer personas, students learned how AI can support complex tasks, while still challenging critical thinking.
In the end, the winning team had the unique opportunity to present their concept directly to Tilman Kreuder, CEO of boep. Notably, the team’s final presentation was delivered by an international student, highlighting how exchange students can actively participate in hands-on projects, apply their skills in real-world settings, and gain valuable practical experience for their future careers.
Events like this Promptathon highlight the value of experiential learning at Wiesbaden Business School. By combining academic theory with real corporate challenges and modern technologies, students gain insights that prepare them for the dynamic realities of the global economy.
Experiencing German Christmas Traditions at Wiesbaden Business School
As the holiday season begins, Germany transforms into a landscape of lights, festive scents, and long-standing traditions. Christmas markets open their wooden stalls, streets fill with music, and classic treats like Lebkuchen, Stollen, and warm Glühwein create the unique atmosphere of winter. The season is marked by small but meaningful rituals, from Advent calendars to candle lighting, which make the weeks leading up to Christmas feel special.
To capture how students at Wiesbaden Business School experience this festive time, we asked several of them about their personal traditions and favorite moments during the holiday season.
For Luca, Christmas starts with the opening of the Christmas markets. He enjoys walking through the decorated streets with friends and trying seasonal sweets. “The lights and the smells make the whole city feel different,” he says.
Hannah highlights the importance of Christmas Eve in her family. “We always cook together and exchange small gifts,” she explains. For her, Christmas is as much about preparation as celebration. She enjoys decorating her home and making traditional cookies.
For Jonas, the Advent season has a special meaning. He uses the weeks before Christmas to take small breaks from his daily routine. “I enjoy the calm in the evenings, when the city is lit up and everything feels a bit slower,” he says. He especially likes visiting Wiesbaden’s decorated squares and soaking in the festive atmosphere.
Ulrike enjoys the creative side of the season. She bakes cookies, decorates her apartment, and prepares homemade gifts for friends. “These small traditions make the weeks before Christmas feel warm and familiar,” she explains.
These insights show how students at Wiesbaden Business School experience the holiday season: a mix of tradition, festive atmosphere, and personal rituals. From bustling Christmas markets to quiet evenings at home, from preparing cookies to spending time with family and friends, each student’s experience reflects the cultural richness of German Christmas. Visiting the markets, enjoying seasonal treats, or taking part in family rituals. These moments allow students to connect with traditions and create lasting memories.
Christmas in Germany, as experienced by these students, is more than just a festive period. It is a time to pause, celebrate, and enjoy a unique combination of communal joy, cozy rituals, and seasonal charm that brings people together.

The first place we visit is the Landesmuseum Wiesbaden. Hania from Poland is impressed by the life-size stuffed animals, especially the bear. Surrounded by antique sculptures and beautiful paintings, she loves the atmosphere of the museum. Hania is eager to return to see the famous painting "The Fate of Ophelia", which is linked to a song by Taylor Swift and has made the Landesmuseum Wiesbaden even more famous.
There is a place in Wiesbaden that has a special meaning for our incoming Idrees , a place where the city seems to breathe and slow down. He always talks enthusiastically about the area around the Hessisches Staatstheater, admiring its beautiful architecture and the calm aura it exerts on the surrounding streets. Whenever Idrees passes the theater, he has the feeling that the city is becoming softer and almost more beautiful.
Directly behind it is a small park with a gently flowing stream. He often sits by the water and watches the ducks swim and play with each other. It's a simple scene, but it always lifts his spirits.
One of Minh-Quan Le 's favorite places in Wiesbaden is the State Library. Being from Vietnam, he is familiar with study corners in cafes or special learning centers where students usually pay for a specific time slot. In contrast, he has found that such paid study spaces are less common in Wiesbaden.
The State Library offers a suitable alternative. It is quiet, clean and provides an environment that encourages concentration and productive learning. For him, it has become a reliable and comfortable place to work, which plays an important role in his daily routine.
Chris from South Africa names the Evangelical Market Church as one of his favorite places in Wiesbaden. He appreciates its impressive Architecture and the calm atmosphere that surrounds this place. For him, it is simply a beautiful place that stands out from the city.
Whether he passes it on a walk or lingers for a moment in the square, Chris finds that the church adds a special character to Wiesbaden's city center. It has become a place he often returns to and appreciates for its peaceful aura.
For Yahya , the Nero Valley is one of the most unforgettable places in Wiesbaden. He associates many positive experiences with this area and appreciates the clear, open views that the valley offers. It is a place he often returns to, both for the familiar surroundings and the peace and quiet he finds there.
These personal impressions show just some of the many special places Wiesbaden has to offer.
