Unter den Eichen Library reopens

Just in time for the start of the 2025 summer semester, a modern spatial sculpture has been created in the library on the Unter den Eichen Campus of Hochschule RheinMain (HSRM).

On steps, in niches and at free-standing tables, the installation now offers space for reading, researching and working, but is also intended to invite students to linger.

"Following feedback from students on the quality of stay on campus, there was a real need for action," reported Prof. Dr. Stephan Böhm, Dean of Studies of the Faculty of Design Computer Science Media, during the inauguration of the RheinMain University and State Library (HLB) location last Wednesday.

"In close cooperation with the HLB, the Construction and Facility Management division as well as other colleagues from the higher education institution and an external planning office, we have succeeded in creating a beautiful symbiosis between the original use of the library and the possibilities of the spatial sculpture," continued Prof. Dr. Böhm. "We hope it will be well received and bring more life to this place." Vice-President Prof. Dr. Andreas Brensing, who spoke a few introductory words during the inauguration, also sees the quality of life in the library as "significantly improved" and thanked everyone involved in the project.

Opening with the first day of classes

To ensure that the room sculpture blends harmoniously into the overall appearance of the library site, the shelves were also refaced and the wall color of the surrounding corridor was adapted to the new color concept. In addition to open work and lounge areas, visitors and users of the library still have access to a soundproofed booth with two seats. Due to the extensive redesign, the library has been closed since mid-February and will be open again for the first day of classes on Monday, April 14.
