International Staff Week 2025 at HSRM

From June 30 to July 3, HSRM’s International Office hosted its International Staff Week 2025, focusing on “VR, AR and AI in Higher Education”.

The International Staff Week brought together university staff responsible for internationalization to exchange experiences, share best practices, and strengthen international partnerships. Guests from 13 universities across nine countries joined the event. University President Prof. Dr. Eva Waller opened the week by welcoming participants to Wiesbaden and introducing them to HSRM and the German higher education system.

Workshops on AI, VR and AR

The second day of the International Staff Week focused on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education. In workshops, participants exchanged ideas on how AI can be used in teaching and administration. The lively discussions with speakers also addressed the potential risks alongside the benefits of AI.

The following workshop day explored the use of virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) through avatars in marketing and teaching. A gallery walk afterward offered participants fresh ideas for international student recruitment.

Cosing panel discussion

On the final day, participants came together for a closing panel discussion. Judith Hayer (Head of HSRM’s International Office), Dr. Isabella Buck (Head of HSRM’s Competence & Career Center), and Prof. Dr. Johannes Luderschmidt (Professor of Media Computer Science and Interactive Media Technology) explored the potential applications of AI, ethical considerations, and the importance of AI literacy for students.

Beyond the workshops, the program included a group excursion to Rüdesheim with a city tour and gondola ride, a guided tour of Wiesbaden, and shared dinners – offering plenty of opportunities for informal exchange and networking.
