The Hospital Study on Safety through Management of Intrahospital Risks 2021/22 (KHaSiMiR 21) looks at the implementation status of clinical risk management (kRM) in hospitals and rehabilitation facilities in Germany.
With the entry into force of the Patients' Rights Act in February 2013 and the definition of minimum standards for clinical risk management (kRM) by the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA), the introduction of kRM became mandatory for all hospitals in Germany licensed under Section 108 SBG V. To support hospitals and rehabilitation clinics in the ongoing optimization of CRM and the strategic orientation at a political level, the implementation is to be evaluated on an ongoing basis.
In 2010 and 2015, the Institute for Patient Safety (IfPS) at the University of Bonn conducted a survey on the current implementation status in cooperation with the German Patient Safety Action Alliance (APS).
Following on from these results, a modified nationwide survey was conducted in 2021/22 in collaboration with WiHelP and the German Hospital Institute (DKI) on the development status of kRM in hospitals and rehabilitation clinics. Furthermore, the collected results were used in an additional qualitative analysis of ten participating clinics to identify factors that promote and barriers to the successful implementation of CRM.
