From July 3 to 10, the Wiesbaden Business School hosted a summer school on the topic of “Ukraine’s European Integration.” The event was organized by Prof. Dr. Rainer Wedde, professor of business law at the school. For one week, participants attended lectures on the European Union and Ukraine and also took part in a varied program of activities in Wiesbaden and the surrounding region.
The lectures covered topics ranging from the basics of European law to the EU single market. The focus was on Ukraine’s path toward European integration and the question of which requirements must be met for membership in the European Union. The discussions following the lectures gave participants the opportunity to exchange different perspectives and delve deeper into the topics together.
Exchange and Insights into European Politics
A particular highlight of the week was the visit by Member of the European Parliament Michael Gahler. He provided insights into his work in the European Parliament and spoke with participants about his views on Ukraine’s European integration.
In addition to the academic program, the Summer School also offered the opportunity to get to know Wiesbaden and the surrounding region. A wine tasting, a trip to Frankfurt, and other group activities rounded out the week and made the Summer School a successful combination of academic exchange and cultural activities.
