- Advising on all topics related to attending Hochschule RheinMain as a student with a physical disability, including on-site tours and information on disability support
- Launching new types of services for those seeking advice
The advising services are tailored to the concerns and questions of those seeking advice, and are open to all as an integrative advising approach. Advising services are confidential and open-ended, and can be provided on-site, by phone or video.
Appointments for advising services are made at the student services information point, I-Punkt.
Mental health support
The mental health support service is available to students of Hochschule RheinMain only. Taking advantage of this service is entirely voluntary. It is offered on a confidential basis (the counselors are obligated to maintain confidentiality).
It is available at the Rüsselsheim and Wiesbaden campuses.
Possible concerns we can address:
Anything that prevents students from concentrating on their studies can be discussed. Topics could include:
- Difficulties adjusting to the workload and navigating your studies,
- Psychosomatic complaints,
- Examination and test anxiety,
- Questions, concerns and problems in the student’s personal development and in family and partner relationships.
This mental health support provides short-term counseling and not psychotherapy. Psychotherapy requires elements such as a diagnosis of a mental illness and the therapists’ availability for very regular, organized sessions over the long term.
Talent scouting
Talent scouting supports secondary school students in their choice of career and degree program. This project is based on the conviction that every secondary school student has a talent that can be discovered and fostered on an individual basis. This is especially aimed at students from a non-academic background whose achievements are notable considering the environment they come from (regardless of grades). Using the student’s talents as a starting point, open-ended and solution-oriented advising and career counseling can help to create a vision for the student’s future. Possible educational paths are identified, along with networks and potential access to existing support programs within the educational system.
The young people involved can decide for themselves whether they would prefer university studies or a vocational training program.
At the same time, within the collaborating schools, the talent scouts increase awareness of this particular way of fostering talent.
This project is carried out in cooperation with the University of Marburg.
