Ready to succeed at university

From 1 to 5 September 2025, the orientation week of the preparatory programs Prepare@HSRM and PreStudyING@HSRM introduced new students to campus life and their studies at HSRM.

Prepare@HSRM and PreStudyING@HSRM help prospective students get a strong start at university, setting them up for success in their studies. The two preparatory programs under the umbrella Succeed@HSRM include German courses, subject-specific courses, workshops and a varied social program. Over the course of one to two semesters, participants acquire the necessary language skills for successful studies at Hochschule RheinMain (HSRM). In addition, PreStudyING@HSRM prepares its students for the subject-specific entrance examination for engineering degree courses.

A week of workshops, encounters and a celebratory ending

During orientation week, students from Afghanistan, Iran, Kenya, Morocco, Turkey, Ukraine and other countries shared their expectations and first impressions of Germany in workshops like “How to be German”; many had arrived just days earlier. Sharing different experiences and perspectives o on the experience of arrival was of great value.

The orientation week concluded with a reception at Rüsselsheim Town Hall, featuring an art exhibition by international students. Small groups quickly formed, photos were taken, contacts exchanged and initial friendships made. After navigating tedious bureaucratic processes, students had arrived at the university, ready for the next stage of their lives.

Strong team in the background

The International Office team – Josephine Fontaine, Bettina Rauschmayr-Immers, and their student assistants – provided participants with information, guidance and personal support., helping new students settle in and engage with university life early on.
