ADRIMA - Artistic & Design Research in Media & Architecture

The ADRIMA research focus in the arts and design focuses on the interplay between ethics and aesthetics to explore and further develop lifestyles, forms of survival, living spaces, and media offerings in the networked society.

The participants in this artistic and design-oriented research focus are united by a shared motivation to reflect on these questions concerning aesthetics, perception and sensory experience, as well as ethics and social engagement. At the heart of our critical interest, therefore, lies the design of private and public living spaces and the ubiquity of media, which are becoming increasingly ingrained in our lives.

The research focus currently comprises three ‘working groups’, which are described in more detail below.

Working Group: Resonance Spaces

The “Resonance Spaces” working group, launched in 2021, brings together the artistic research of faculty members from various degree programs (Interior Architecture, Communication Design, Architecture, Media Management).

The name of the “working group” programmatically refers to the concept of resonance in the sense of a successful relationship with the world (according to Hartmut Rosa), as it manifests itself in private and public spaces. The dramaturgy and drama of these spaces are explored through artistic means in various media formats.

Working Group: CCI

The Institute for Corporate Communication & Identity (CCI) within the Department of Design, Computer Science and Media (DCSM) was founded in 2024. Under the leadership of Prof. Jörg Waldschütz and Prof. Dr Dr Alexander Moutchnik as his deputy, the CCI brings together and intensifies interdisciplinary research in the fields of communication design, corporate communication and reporting.

As part of the DCSM’s ADRIMA (Artistic & Design Research in Media & Architecture) research focus, the CCI supports the academic activities of its members through practice-oriented projects and collaborations.
