Further questions?

What is it?

The master's degree program Media & Design Management at RheinMain University of Applied Sciences in Wiesbaden is the ideal combination of the subjects of business, design and engineering and offers students the opportunity to both consolidate and expand their knowledge and skills acquired in the bachelor’s degree program Media Management. This interdisciplinary educational concept is the distinguishing feature of the master's degree program in Wiesbaden. In terms of content, the focus is on economic aspects and issues of the media industry. The modules offered in English and German as part of the master's degree program prepare students for specific professional areas in the media and design industries and beyond. The projects in the master's degree program serve to transfer theory into practice and help students to establish contacts in the professional field.

The degree program offers two special features from the areas of research and international affairs:

  1. Students with a special interest in research can apply to participate in a research project each winter semester. This option is of particular interest to those students who are aiming for a doctorate or a career in research.
  2. Students of the master's degree program have the opportunity to acquire a further master's degree in addition to their Master of Arts during their regular studies at RheinMain University of Applied Sciences in Wiesbaden (Double Your Degree).

The course language is German except for one semester in English.

What can I do with it?

Graduates can go on to make a career in the design industry or in the so-called TIMES sectors (Telecommunications, Information Technology, Media, Entertainment and Security). These include companies from the film, radio and television industries as well as advertising, communication and creative agencies and other media and telecommunications companies. Further career opportunities can be found in industrial, trade and service companies as well as in the public sector, in the areas of press and public relations, marketing or market and corporate communication and design.

For degree-seeking students: detailed information on admission requirements, application deadlines, etc. can be found on the German page.

Media & Design Management (M.Sc.)

The special feature of the master's degree program is its interdisciplinary nature. The degree program offers a unique combination of subjects from the fields of design, technology and management, which are otherwise taught individually in various degree programs.

How is the master's program structured?

The "Media & Design Management" master's degree program can be started every winter and summer semester and comprises three semesters as a full-time course. The course is illustrated in the following diagram:

The order of the winter and summer semester doesn't matter, the courses do not build on each other. The fact that first-semester students are always taught together with the 2nd semester means that you always have "old hands" at your side who can provide you with advice and support.

While the winter semester is offered in German, the courses in the summer semester are taught in English. The latter allows the admission of incoming students from abroad. The 3rd semester - whether winter or summer semester - consists of the individual Master's thesis and a practical project carried out in a team (usually in German, English possible on request). After successful completion of all modules, the Hochschule RheinMain awards the academic degree "Master of Science (M.Sc.)".

You can find an overview of all modules and courses in the curriculum

Detailed information can be found in the module handbook

What are options for visiting students from abroad (Incomings)?

The completely English-language summer semester (teaching period mid-April to July) offers excellent opportunities for students from abroad who would like to acquire master-level skills in the fields of media management, design and technology in an international environment. Students and graduates of all kinds of media management degree programs are invited to apply for the program. Requirements are - in addition to appropriate English skills - sound business management knowledge and at least basic knowledge of design and media technology. As the entire summer semester program is taught in English, students can earn up to 30 ECTS credits in one semester.

For  general information for Incomings & information how to apply please have a look at our Exchange Students website.

Students from our partner university ICO NIDA in Bangkok can attend both the summer semester and the final semester as part of our double degree program.
