Media Management

What is it?
The Media Management program focuses on management and includes training in design and technology.
What to expect:
- Basics in media economics, law, media research, information and communication technology, media technology and design
- Specializations: “International Media Management”, “Interactive Media & User Interfaces” or “Motion Image & Sound”
- Strong emphasis on practical experience through project studies and a compulsory internship
- Mobility window to study abroad for a semester

How is it structured?
The B.Sc. in Media Management is a seven-semester program with a modular structure. It is organized as follows:
- Semesters 1–2: Learn the basics of business, media technology and design, software tools, media research, and media law.
- Semester 3: Choose a specialization and take courses like Media Marketing and Finance and Accounting.
- Semester 4: Use your knowledge in practical projects and study topics such as business management, organization, and human resources.
- Semester 5: Complete a required internship to gain real work experience.
- Semester 6: Continue your specialization with courses in Digital Business to strengthen your strategic and technical skills.
- Semester 7: Write your bachelor’s thesis to finish your studies and get ready for your career.

What will I learn?
The Media Management program centers on management. You will learn how to run companies, manage media projects and make decisions while focusing on digitalization and sustainability.
It is not just theory, though. You will gain valuable professional experience working on real-life projects with companies and collaborating with industry professionals.

Long-term programs:
The Media Management program offers excellent opportunities to study abroad and gain international experience. Short-term programs:
1. International Summer School:
The degree program organizes an annual international summer school in July/August with a problem-based learning approach (in collaboration with HSRM's TeachingLearningCenter). During this week-long program, you will work in small, international teams to complete real-life tasks given by partner companies. Our partner universities regularly participate in our International Summer School.
2. Marketing Excursion to Zurich
In spring, you can attend our Media and Marketing Excursion to Zurich. It will give you an insight into Zurich's brand and media world. The excursion includes lectures at the University of Zurich and the daily newspaper NZZ (Neue Zürcher Zeitung).
