TeachingLearningCenter (LLZ)

The LLZ is a space for innovative learning and teaching, professional development, languages, and sports. We help shape the teaching and learning experience and work together each year to design events, workshops, language and sports courses, and other offerings. Each semester, we offer over 300 events in various fields for students and staff. The LLZ sees itself as a team of experts with academic and/or practical qualifications and a high level of expertise. We aim to tailor all our offerings to the needs of the target groups and bring a learner-centered approach and a holistic understanding of learning to teaching-related university development.

The Career Service, Entrepreneurship, and Leadership department offers students from all faculties personalized and free seminars, workshops, talks, and one-on-one counseling sessions on starting a career, finding internships, and career planning. In addition, we organize international summer schools and seminars on leadership, entrepreneurship, and careers. As part of the joint project “International Career Service RheinMain,” we specifically support international students at Hochschule RheinMain – University of Applied Sciences and Arts in making a successful transition into the job market. Through networking events and career fairs, we connect students with employers. In addition, RheinMain University of Applied Sciences and Arts’ job portal is available to help students search for jobs.

The Languages and Global Competencies department teaches foreign languages and intercultural skills to prepare students to function confidently in a globalized professional world. The approximately 75 language courses—many of which are required for various degree programs—in English, Spanish, German as a foreign language, and other languages, as well as seminars and summer schools on intercultural competencies, prepare students for their careers or for a semester abroad or an internship abroad and promote their international mobility.

The Team for Higher Education Pedagogy, Continuing Education, and Learning Culture serves as a central point of contact for all faculty and members of staff at the university, offering targeted continuing education in higher education pedagogy and interdisciplinary topics such as communication and collaboration, work techniques, self-organization, personal development, and leadership.  We are part of the AGWW and, through this partnership, offer a cross-university (higher education pedagogy) continuing education program that provides opportunities for exchange and networking. Using a variety of methods and a practical approach, seminars, workshops, coaching, and flexible formats—independent of time and location—are tailored to the respective target groups. We support newly appointed faculty members with a one-year program for new faculty. We offer continuing education counseling, pedagogical consulting, and organizational support within the HSRM for the implementation of continuing education programs.

The University Sports, Health, and Campus Life department offers a wide variety of sports classes (team sports, fitness, yoga, and much more), health-promoting programs (StudyFit, resilience and mindfulness workshops), and campus life and networking (Feel Connected events and opportunities to meet new people)—all designed for students, staff, and faculty, as well as beginners and advanced participants. Studies and work aren’t just about acquiring knowledge and professional development—they’re also about campus life: exercise, health, and social connections are just as much a part of it. At the LLZ, we combine sports programs with preventive health services and initiatives for a vibrant campus life. In this way, we support you in staying physically fit, mentally resilient, and well-connected.

The Teaching and Learning Innovation Department promotes forward-looking teaching and learning formats: We identify trends and, in collaboration with faculty and academic departments, develop new methodological approaches for—and, above all, with—students, closely aligned with the learning process, subject-specific examination practices, and the demands of the job market. Our unit includes the Writing Workshop, which offers relevant training for students and peer-to-peer writing advising. Our focus is on reading, writing, and academic work. We promote interdisciplinary approaches, provide advice on pedagogical implementation, support the development of teaching and learning experiments, and strengthen competencies in the meaningful use of artificial intelligence. Our goal is the sustainable, participatory advancement of learning by more closely integrating innovation, practical relevance, and digital competencies.
